This Weeks Question

Question of the Week: If you could write a book what would it be about? – Suggested by Go Book Yourself.

I would have to say either Paranormal or YA. I know they are really different, but hear me out. I love vampires, shifters, angels, demons and the like in stories. I read to be transported to a different world and Paranormal does that for me. So I would love to write a story that helped others escape reality as well. I love how YA has been showing such diversity lately. It makes my heart happy to see stories with characters that have racial and sexual orientation diversity treated as totally normal. If I were to write a YA book I would include these themes as I think kids need to see different perspectives as normal.

  1. You’re right. When I was growing up (in the 90’s), it was a big deal if a YA book even hinted at sex or the use of drugs. But now, several of the authors are finding some really great ways to approach important issues that may not seem as important or even pertinent when you see them scroll across the news feed while the reporters are too busy talking about political nonsense. Perhaps you could do a YA Paranormal book that could cover the best of both worlds?

    Great choices!
