Welcome to my weekly discussion feature. On Saturdays I will be posting my weekly discussion topic and a linky for you to post your weekly discussions as well. I hope you enjoy the discussions and come back every week.
If you hadn’t noticed I am celebrating this month. It is 125Pages’ 1st blogiversary! You can check out the whole schedule and enter the big giveaway here. For the month of April all Soapbox Saturdays will have a mini-giveaway of a $10 Amazon gift card for commenting, linking up or tweeting about the discussion. The giveaway will be open until the next Saturday Soapbox posts.
So speaking of celebrating, I am currently anxiously awaiting the newest release in one of my favorite series (the Black Dagger Brotherhood). It is one of a handful of series or author’s books that I buy no matter what on release day. I call it Happy New Book Day, and it really is a celebration of sorts for me. I just know that I will enjoy the read and the whole experience of going to the store or getting the mail is almost transcendent for me. Carefully reading every bit of the cover blurb, looking at every inch of the design, cracking the cover for the first time, it is almost magical. These are books that I cannot get on my Kindle (as much as I love it) because I need the tactile feel of the book.
The characters in these books become almost family to me and I will defend them passionately. I will also drop them into conversation and lord help the person I see in public reading it. I will stalk the author’s website and twitter for the latest release information and will then calendar the book months out. To me this is perfectly normal. Books are such a huge part of my life that I want to celebrate them. My only problem is that I cannot make them last longer. I need to read them as fast as possible as I need to add them to my brain. That’s not crazy right? I swear I am mostly normal.
So tell me, what books make you celebrate and why?
