This weeks Top Ten Tuesday is an interesting one. Top Ten Book To Movie Adaptations I’m Looking Forward To or Ten Book To Movie Adaptations I Still Need To Watch. Now if you recall on my TTT of Bookish Bad Habits, I tend to not watch movie versions of books. However I have been working on that (I just saw The Martian and it was great) so I think this is a great topic. I am combining movies already released and ones yet to come today. As usual they are in no particular order.
Mockingjay Part Two (by Suzanne Collins). I actually loved the previous movies so I am super stoked for the final one.
The Help (by Kathryn Stockett). I actually need to read the book, it’s on my Kindle, and I want to see the movie as I have heard nothing but good things about it.
Oh yes! Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children done by Tim Burton. I will take my ticket now please.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (by J.K. Rowling). I so miss Harry Potter, both the books and movies, so anything new from that world is exciting to me.
I’m sorry what…sorry, distracted by my movie star boyfriend Charlie Hunnam. So in all honesty I have not read The Lost City of Z (by David Grann), and in all likelihood will not. But will I see the movie, that’s a solid (like his abs) yes.
Olive Kitteridge (by Elizabeth Strout) is another still un-read on my Kindle and still unwatched combo. Francis McDormand is a fantastic actress and I look forward to finally watching/reading this one.
There are certain movies that I feel are part of our culture. One of those is The Silence of the Lambs (by Thomas Harris) and I feel like it is one I do need to watch and just not know the quotes.
I can’t believe I’ve never see To Kill a Mockingbird (by Harper Lee). I have read the book at least a dozen times but have somehow never gotten to the movie.
I have No Country For Old Men (by Cormac McCarthy) on my dvd shelf right now. But have I watched it yet? No. This should be an easy one to accomplish.
My final pick is not a movie but a TV adaptation of the Mortal Instruments series (by Cassandra Clare). Mortal Instruments is one of my all time favorite book series and the movie sucked big time. I’m hoping with a TV series encompassing multiple episodes they will have time to accurately portray the story.
So that is my list of books to movies that I would like to watch. What made your list?

Really liked ‘The Help’ and am very much anticipating the ‘Shadowhunters’ TV series. 🙂

We share three! 🙂
You know, I’ve never read Harris’s books, but I love the movies. I’ve also heard the Hannibal tv show was good.
Check out my TTT.

The only Harris book based movie I have seen is Manhunter, but I hear awesome things about the show Hannibal. I may have to see if it’s on Netflix.

Mockingjay 2 is appearing on just about everyone’s list. 🙂 I can’t wait until it comes out. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who hasn’t yet read The Help or seen the movie. I do want to! Same with Olive Kitteridge.
I’ve been really wanting to read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. I imagine I’ll want to see the movie when it comes out as well. Silence of the Lambs! A good book and a good movie.
I haven’t only read the first book in the Mortal Instruments series. I would like to see a TV show based on the books. It might be better suited for the small screen where the story can take its time unfolding. Like you, I wasn’t too impressed with the movie.
So glad I’m not alone on The Help front! Sometimes I feel left out when I haven’t seen a super popular movie from book, so it’s always nice to hear that others haven’t see it either!

The Lost City of Z is going to be or is already a movie? What an amazing and interesting book.

No official date other than “To be released in 2016”. It is currently in post-production, so hopefully soon an actual date will be announced.

I’m not always a fan of the movie adaptations, but The Help is done SO well. I hope that you enjoy it!

That’s what I keep hearing! My main reason for not seeing it yet, is it’s not on Netflix. It’s only like $8 on Amazon so I may have to just buy it.

After the complete bombing of TMI movie, I am trying to remain cautiously optimistic for the show. I like the cast better and the look of everything, even though in some of the footage I’ve seen they are using the stele more like a wand than a pen and that deeply bothers me. About half of your list I haven’t heard of.
But the ones I have I too am really looking forward to.

I have the same issue with the stele, but I really don’t think it’s possible for it to be worse than the movie. I just hope I’m not setting myself up for disappointment.

I have Mockingjay, The Help and Fantastic Beasts on my list too! I can’t wait to watch them. I’d also like to watch To Kill A mockingbird at some point too. I hope you get to watch these soon.

I loved The Help and really hope the movie adaption is good. I haven’t seen or read the Martian but I saw the trailer recently and it looked amazing.

I still have not read The Martian (I have it on my Kindle) but the movie was fantastic. I was very happily surprised.

I still need to watch Mockingjay. I liked the first two movies but have just been lazy! You need to read The Help! So good. The movie was done well. I am glad that you liked the movie for The Martian – I loved the book! Great list!

I’ll stop being lazy and read The Help if you go watch Mockingjay. It was really good. 🙂

You do need to watch Silence of the Lambs! Its an amazing movie, but I have yet to read the book.
I know, I know. I just saw Thelma and Louise this past summer, so I come to movies super late. It is on my Netflix queue though, so I’m that much closer to actually watching it. 🙂

Your comment about Silence of the Lambs cracked me up! I too have never seen it, and yet I know all of the major quotes from it :p someday we really should get around to it!

Right! I can totally play off that I’ve seen it just by the quotes, but if anyone asked me the plot I would be totally lost.

LOLOLOLOLOL Charlie Hunnam’s abs! 😉 Cracked me up. Can’t say that I blame you either!
He is just spectacular. If I can throw him in a post somewhere I will. 🙂

OMG! The Shadowhunter series! I can’t wait! I’m scared though, I really hope it’s better than the movie.
I’m also really excited for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them, I miss HP so much!
My TTT
So much yes to missing HP. As for Shadowhunters I just keep thinking it can’t be worse than the movie, so I hope I’m right.

Great list! No Country for Old Men (book) is really great. The film is a good adaptation, but of course cut a few scenes. The Help (book and film) were really good, too.
